CHANTHABURI, Thailand — Rambhai Barni Rajabhat University (RBRU) Acting President Assoc. Prof. Pophant Sutthiwattana met with the King Prajadhipok Museum committee on April 27, 2026, to oversee the final stages of a major structural and historical restoration project. The meeting at King Prajadhipok’s Institute addressed the technical specifications required to return the landmark to its original architectural state. Contractors reported that the first two phases of the project, including roof stabilization and climate control installation, are scheduled for completion by the end of April. The restoration prioritizes historical accuracy through the selection of period-correct materials. Project engineers confirmed the replacement of modern concrete tiles with glazed ceramic kite tiles to resolve long-term leakage while maintaining the building′s authentic silhouette. The committee also approved a specific green-and-white exterior color palette based on historical records. These technical decisions align with the museum′s 10th-anniversary renovation cycle and international conservation standards for heritage sites. "This restoration focuses on authentic materials and techniques to ensure the building reflects its true history," Sutthiwattana said during the session. He noted that RBRU provides technical support for the project as part of its mission to preserve regional and national cultural heritage. The committee also reviewed a logistics plan for moving large-scale artifacts. Specialized handlers will oversee the relocation of these items to prevent damage during the final phase of interior construction. The project aims to re-establish the museum as a primary educational landmark in Thailand. By integrating modern structural durability with traditional aesthetics, the university and the institute intend to secure the site’s status as a sustainable cultural asset. Officials expect the completed works to enhance the museum′s capacity for international academic tourism and heritage research. The university continues to coordinate with the Provincial Electricity Authority to improve the surrounding infrastructure, including the installation of electric vehicle charging stations nearby.
