On Sunday, May 10, 2026, the Master of Arts Program in Thai Language and Literature, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at Rambhai Barni Rajabhat University (RBRU), conducted a final thesis oral examination for Ms. Chanjira Thisa. Her research, titled “Linguistic Strategies and the Role of the Isan Dialect in the Construction of Humor as Depicted in the Film Yam Yasothon,” offers a profound linguistic analysis of how regional dialects and cultural nuances are utilized to create comedic effects in contemporary Thai cinema. The examination took place at the Puang Yok Conference Room, presided over by a distinguished panel of experts: Asst. Prof. Dr. Nawaporn Khammuang (Chairperson) Dr. Narongrit Suksawat (Principal Advisor) Asst. Prof. Dr. Pornchok Pitch Usomboon (Co-advisor) Asst. Prof. Dr. Udomluck Rapeesang (Co-advisor) The atmosphere of the defense was described as professional, warm, and academically rigorous. The panel commended the candidate for her ability to synthesize linguistic theories with local cultural expressions, providing valuable insights into the role of the Isan dialect in modern social communication. This successful defense underscores RBRU&#8217s commitment to advancing Thai language studies and preserving the richness of regional cultures within a contemporary academic framework.
