<p><span style="color: rgb(51, 51, 51); font-family: "Noto Sans Thai", sans-serif; font-size: 21.5184px; text-align: justify;">Rambhai Barni Rajabhat University (RBRU), in collaboration with Thai PBS citizen journalists, the Office of the Decentralization to Local Government Organizations, the Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation, local administrative organizations, and representatives from Eastern Thailand′s elephant monitoring and mitigation volunteer network, recently hosted a seminar titled "Decentralization and the Future of Elephant Conflict Resolution in Eastern Thailand." The event, held in Room 35201, 2nd Floor, Building 35 of RBRU, aimed to establish effective mechanisms for managing wild elephant populations in the region through decentralized governance.</span><br style="color: rgb(51, 51, 51); font-family: "Noto Sans Thai", sans-serif; font-size: 21.5184px; text-align: justify;"><br style="color: rgb(51, 51, 51); font-family: "Noto Sans Thai", sans-serif; font-size: 21.5184px; text-align: justify;"><span style="color: rgb(51, 51, 51); font-family: "Noto Sans Thai", sans-serif; font-size: 21.5184px; text-align: justify;">The seminar addressed the complex issue of human-elephant conflict in Eastern Thailand, emphasizing the need for multi-stakeholder participation. A key focus was the decentralization of authority to local administrative organizations, which possess a deep understanding of local contexts and can respond swiftly to evolving situations. Discussions centered on developing elephant habitats and food sources, fostering community involvement in forest restoration, and mitigating elephant foraging in agricultural areas.
